Hello My Fellow Fashion Hogs!

It’s almost time to welcome in a new year. So many things to look forward to in the new year; I am itching with excitement. But I would be remiss if I did not thank the few loyal readers that take time to visit my little comer in cyberspace. Thank you for your kind words, you feedback, and most of all your extension of camaraderie and friendship.

I will be away from SL for the next few days, celebrating the close of this year (it has been a doozy) and ringing in 2009! But I couldn’t go without showing you some great party looks for New Year’s Eve from Cupcakes, Bijou, Paper Couture, as well as a retired item fromGLAM/ VG Republic!

Wow, what a year of transition and growth for Rosemary G.  From her own little storefront (Oh! What A Neat, Rosemar) to co-owner of a major brand (M&R Cupcakes, Cupcakes), Rosemary has been doing a great job creating fashionable clothes and skins.  What better way to bring in 2009 than with the Plume Cocktail Dress. Feathers are always fun and festive, and the dangerously low cut top can make you the life of the party… and the after party!

You can’t help but move your feet and celebrate life when you wear a creation from :bijou:.  The clothes are sexy, but in the most unusual or unexpected ways. I am amazed at how this brand has grown from clothes, to hair, skins, and lingerie. I am wearing the Gilfy dress in Gold. Classy, sassy, and sexy. What a way to bring in the New Year!

Classical Dancer

If your New Year’s resolutions includes a shopping strike, then dig deep in your inve and work that oldie but goody. It’s been a while since I have shimmed the night away in this satiny number from GLAM (turned VG Republic). But every time I wear it, I just feel elegant. And I must say the color compliments darker hues quite nicely.  The addition of the ruffles bring this dress to a whole new level of party time chic!

Papered Elegance

Everyone will stop in there tracks when you arrive in this mysteriously gorgeous gown–Silk Gypsy– from Paper Couture.  It is a slightly fitted, with puffy silk sleeves and a sweeping bottom that leaves a sexy trail everywhere you go.  Sleeves will take some adjustment on curvier frames, but it is well worth the effort. Believe me, nothing says style like Paper Couture!

Winter Magic: SL’s First Bilingual Fashion Show

Just a quickie!

Nocturne Modelling and Rezzable are excited to present the first bilingual fashion show, presented in Japanese in open-chat text and English on stream! With fashion focused on the enchantment of the season and the unique aura of the Black Swan sim, this is not an event to miss this Monday, December 29th at 9:00am SLT!

A wide variety of styles will dazzle the runway, ranging from casual, formal, couture and gothic, and the array of options include clothing, skin, hair and even sculpted animals! my personal favorite is the Snow Dragon outfit by Sn@tch, which is not only an incredible piece intended for men, but it features a kilt! Winter Magic is also not without a gift for those that venture through the snow- Helena Stringer has created a pair of florescent wings free for all those that wish to fly away.

Be sure to come on Monday, Dec. 29th 9 AM SLT, to experience the Winter Magic that is Black Swan!

Spotlight on Starlust

What’s Up Everybody!

I wanted to do another designer spotlight before 2008 came to a close. But I admit I was having trouble. I mean how can you really spotlight a whole sim full of designers and stores that you adore? Not sure if my attempt will be the best, but I hope to do these designers justice. All of them are featured @ Starlust!

I fell in love with Starlust (Lloyd) when it first started out as a simple, crazy, wacky hotel. I had no idea, then, what it would grow into. I adore Apatia, Melatonin, and the gang over at Starlust. The sim is wild and imaginatively creativity. It’s a treat to explore and even more fun to shop! If you have not made Starlust a part of your SL experience, I ask that you do so. If you already know about Starlust, then make sure that Starlust Extended (Floyd) is on your “to do” list as well. Let’s view some of my favorite designers that call Starlust their home in SL!

Sisters

This eclectic shop, located on Starlust Extended, offers fashion outside of the ordinary. Sisters sells mostly dresses and tops, in frilly and often freaky, varieties.  I call it soft goth, because while its not as dark and heavy as much of the goth wear I have seen it, the shapes and look of the clothing gives off a goth vibe to me. I’m wearing the Black Lace Dress, matched with adorably odd hair from [giselle].  Reasonably priced, most of the items costs anywhere between 100L and 200L. Dollarbie sox legwarmers are available here, so grab them while you can.

Thimbles

Goodness knows I need to stay out of this store. Much like GLAM, Last Call, and other store I have stalked and/or continue to stalk, I have far too much from Thimbles. Melatonin Hax is such a darling and really likes to have that ‘tounge and cheek’  fun with her clothing. Below is a mosh of clothing from her beloved store. What I love most about this store is the true ‘wearability’ of the clothes, in fabric like cotton and texture like knit. Cozy sweaters, off-beat dresses, multi purpose tops and tanks to dress up or down. With most items selling between 100L and 150L, Thimbles is a store I consider my secret fashion weapon. Be sure to join the Thimbles group (or the Starlust group for that matter), as the gang usually has a freebie or two to kick around to us loyal devotees.

Ki2

I came to know Ki2 because of one item– the wide leg jeans. At the time, I had not see a real wide leg pant on the grid. No, not a flare pant…. I said a wide leg jeans. It was a revolution at the time, well to me at least. With a prim attachment on the thigh and the calf, the illusion of a wide leg pant was created. While I hate that little gap in between the prim attachments and the line it creates in the jeans (see below), I still wear my wide leg jeans with glee. Especially since each back pocket has the letter “K” stitched on. So while the store is named Ki- Squared (Ki2), I really like to think it means Kiss Kiss or Khitten Kurka. Hey I can dream right? Anyway, with time Ki2 expanded its offerings and began to sell tee-shirts, tops, and jewelry. Small offerings but easy on the wallet. Pick up some great basic and some new finds too!

Schadenfreude

Schadenfreude, don’t ask me how to pronounce it. I just call it Freud. This seriously punk, goth, rocker store is located inside a big elephant, how is that for funny? The clothes here are definitely on the dark side– a beautiful bat corset– yet fun too–the Mouse King Suites. I just love my Nosfer Coat, in the not so tough color of pink. It comes in a ghostly shade of white as well. Lots of morbidly sexy dresses, painfully evil pants, and jagged jewels, along with hair, shoes, and of course ghostly, ghastly skins. For a unique shopping experience, be sure to check them out!
