Double Talk: December 11

Hey You, Stop Shopping!

As I keep digging in the inventory and coming up with clothing I have never worn,  I am getting exhausted. I swear Ketsu knew what she was doing when she issued the challenge to stop shopping and pull out the unworn clothes. I do miss spending my Lindens, but I feel like I am going shopping in my own virtual closet. LOL, so sad I know!!

Below are two very distinct looks– one more uptown and the other one more, shall we say, earthy. I had fun pulling these looks together, which was very easy to do! I really didn’t do any “mashing” today, so its ‘straight no chaser’ fashion. Have a look see…

Uptown Girl

Uptown girl
You know I cant afford to buy her pearls
But maybe someday when my ship comes in
Shell understand what kind of guy Ive been
And then Ill win

~Uptown Girl, by Billy Joel

As soon as I put this fabulous Chanel-inspired suit byBoutique Coco, I felt instantly like an ‘uptown girl.’ You know, like one of the ladies that lunches, goes to the spa, and takes trips to St. Tropez. I certainly look the part with this soft, understated suit, matching shoes, and corsage. A chic cut from ETD complements this nicely done, free skin from FabFree. Pearl earrings from Paper Couture and shades from Mokoptika are the required accessories for any socialite. Didn’t you know dahling?

Earth Angel

Earth angel,
Earth angel
Please you be mine
My darling dear
Love you all the time

~Earth Angel, The Penguins

Something struck me when I purchased this set from Ivalde awhile. Not something I would normally wear, but it seemed to draw me in. I really think it is the colors, so earthy and so rich. Feels like a wearable veggie garden! I feel like digging my hands in the “earth” and growing something.  Anyhoo, I only added some cute hair and accessories but didn’t want to take away from the dress.

Tomorrow will feature a cute mashup with Celestial Studios and Little Rebel, as well as a sexy dress from Random Fashion.

Until next time,

Happy Humpday!

Still not feeding this fashionista as I continue the challenge issued by Ketsu.  But I did buy a few items using gift cards. Does that count, technically, as a purchase? Hmm… wonder what Ketsu would say? I don’ think  it does–smile– so let’s proceed as if nothing ever happened. *Khitten whistles a slow tune as she shuffles off…*

I’ve tried to keep up with pics and such, but I know I won’t be able to in the long run. So starting next week, I will continue to blog the challenge on Wednesday’s only. This helps keep variety in my blog and frees me up to still explore life in-world. I will complete this week though, so I still have a few more days of “what’s in the back of the closet”  fashion to share! Let’s get started, shall we?

Big Brains

I have this very bad habit. I find obscure stores in world. I visit them, buy up the joint, and leave. Months later, I am looking through my virtual closet wondering, “what the hell is this and where did I get it?” :sigh: Much was the case with this dress below. It’s so girlie, with its lace trimming. I couldn’t recall for the life of me where I had purchased it.  The dress is from Brain, +BR+, also know as Brain Restriction.  Very nice store with clothing very reasonably priced. I went hog wild there, only to find out some of the items were very hard to mod on me– such as their cute prim ponchos. Luckily much of the stuff is transfer. So if you are on my friends list (even if you aren’t), IM me and I can drop some of the stuff on you.

Feeling Tart

A few weeks ago, Jarnia had a massive sale and closed its doors. Not sure if they will be back, but I liked the casual yet realistic style of the clothing. I paired this sweater/shirt combo with a pair of slacks from Tart.  I bought these slacks eons ago so it was good to break them out again. This “hair with hat” creation is from HMS, which too is no more. Ahh, the perils of SL business. I topped the look off with my favorite shoes from Tesla— the Athena– in black leather.

Sorry to feature so many defunct shops, but that’s the way it is sometimes. SL fashion can be a fickly and costly business. With competition high, sometimes folks just step away or shut down. If you are really interested in any of the fashions, I would suggest looking on OnRez or SL Exchange (it’s called something weird now and I can’t recall what that is) to see if any of these designers uploaded their creations online.

Until next time,

From My Lips: November 23

Glorious Sunday!

Thanks for stopping by today. I have lots of fashion goodness for you and I am so excited to share! This week’s From My Lips, highlights the designs of Skin Flicks; skin find from Adam N’ Eve; great hairs from bijou, BP, and Zero Style; a wonderfully cozy sweater from Bingo; and an oldie but goodie from Kenzie & Co.  Get your cup of tea, sit back, and enjoy the fashion!

Ocean View

I love teal and all colors closely related. Reminds me so much of ocean waters and green-blue skies. Maybe I need a vacation, LOL.  Well since I can’t get away right now, I pulled together a classic winter look with the calming effects of a year-round holiday.

Featured below are designs from Skin Flicks. I have always been a fan of Mavis’s actually skin line. I must say I am now a big fan of her clothes as well. A few weeks ago on my Flickr, I showed the Georgie Skirt.  Here we have the Mary Ann Solid Sweater matched with the wonderfully done Mary Ann Flaired Trousers. Very much like an outfit I would wear in real life.

The ETD Kristin Boot in Natural gave the bottom of this outfit a very uniform and classic look. I totally dig this hair from bijou, called Maya. The Chanel earrings are by Miam Miam. This week, I checked out the final days of the Adam N’ EVe skin sale and picked up this delicious looking skin– Alanna. I think this skin has been discontinued while they release their new lines. You can catch a closer look at the skin here.

Sweater Time

While out picking up freebies from Bingo, I came across this oh-so-cozy knit sweater. It’s so darling; I just had to have it. It comes in several colors, but being the lady I am I just had to have the sweater with the pink flower (to be fair the brown version has a pink flower too). Underneath is a tank from VG Republic (no longer available), although I tinted it a bit darker to match the flower. Corduroy pants are from ETD and was a great match to the sweater.

Still wearing the Adam N’ Eve skin, I switched to Zero Style’s hair– Hays. Earrings from UnTone added another splash of pink and tied the whole look together.

Ice Queen

Being out near frozen lake water, I could just feel the heat rising off of me. No wonder, I was wearing this tried and true dress from Kenzie & Co. (K&Co)– the Mod Dress. Since the dress has simple yet striking details, I kept everything else relatively low key. I added shoes from Aoharu for a little drama on my feet.

Still wearing my great Adam N’ Eve skin. I just love the rich color of this skin, plus the makeup on this version is nicely done. Versatile and can be worn with couture or street wear. I wanted my hair to be up, but a ponytail wouldn’t do. Leave it to *BP* to make this wonderful updo–Summer Chignon.

So there you have it! Enough fashion for you to spend your precious lindens.  Be sure to check out the Skin Fair going on right now! I picked up a great pack of skins from Lunacy and so enjoyed the very deranged yet delightful skin called Group Love/ Phoenix. See it here and on my Flickr stream (best viewed in original size).

Until next time,
